The closest Bella Canvas 3001 equivalent is the Next Level 3600: 4.3 oz of 100% combed ring-spun cotton against the Bella Canvas 3001’s 4.2 oz, both side-seamed, both slim. At the same supplier the gap is small. Printify prints a size L 3600 for $11.63 against $11.29 for the 3001, a 34-cent difference, and Gooten charges $10.90 against $10.40. Printful is the exception, at $16.91 for the Next Level 3600 against $11.92 for the 3001. If you want something softer and cheaper rather than identical, the Gildan 64000 is the other near-twin. Every price below is a verified size-L printed price from our supplier data.

“Equivalent” means something different depending on why you’re replacing the 3001. If the 3001 is out of stock in a colour or your supplier doesn’t carry it, you want the 3600 or 64000, which a customer won’t notice. If you want to move upmarket, the AS Colour and Stanley/Stella blanks are heavier shirts, not substitutes.

Same-supplier prices: what switching actually costs

Ranges across suppliers hide the comparison that matters. You’ll print at one supplier, so here is each equivalent priced at the three suppliers that carry most of them (size L, printed):

BlankPrintifyPrintfulGooten
Bella Canvas 3001$11.29$11.92$10.40
Next Level 3600$11.63$16.91$10.90

Comfort Colors 1717$12.41$15.60$14.90

Stanley/Stella STTU169$16.65$14.25not carried

Two patterns stand out. The Gildan 64000 is the only equivalent that costs less than the 3001 at all three suppliers, by $1.41 at Printify, $2.29 at Printful and 50 cents at Gooten. And Printful is the wrong place to switch to Next Level: the $4.99 premium there disappears at Printify and Gooten.

Our supplier directory lists every supplier we verify, with their full catalogues, if your current one isn’t in the table.

Next Level 3600: the closest equivalent

On paper the two shirts are the same garment. Same fabric weight within 0.1 oz, same combed ring-spun cotton, same side-seamed construction, same pre-shrunk jersey. Printed side by side in the same colour, most sellers can’t tell them apart.

The real differences:

  • Sizes. The 3001 runs XS–5XL; the 3600 stops at 3XL. If you sell plus sizes, that ends the conversation.
  • Colours. Bella offers over 100 colours, Next Level around 40. Niche heathers and fashion shades are where the 3600 runs out.
  • Cut. The 3600 is a touch closer through the chest and arms, a more athletic silhouette.
  • Price by supplier. Within 50 cents at Printify and Gooten, $4.99 more at Printful. Teelaunch is the outlier the other way, with the 3600 at $8.98 and the 3001 at $11.00.

Gildan 64000 Softstyle: the cheaper equivalent

The 64000 is Gildan’s answer to the 3001: 4.5 oz ring-spun cotton, soft hand, a semi-fitted cut that sits between the 3001’s slim retail fit and a classic boxy tee. It costs less than the 3001 at all five suppliers that print both, from CustomCat ($6.65 against $7.37) to Gelato ($9.59 against $10.39).

What you give up: sizes stop at 3XL, the colour range is narrower, and the body runs slightly fuller, so customers used to Bella’s slim cut may find it roomier. Brand-conscious buyers also read “Gildan” as a budget label, which matters more on Etsy fashion listings than on a gift or event shirt. See the Gildan 64000 vs Bella 3001 comparison for the details.

Don’t confuse the 64000 with the Gildan 5000. The 5000 is a 5.3 oz open-end heavy cotton tee with a boxy cut, a different shirt from the 3001 even though it’s the cheapest t-shirt in most catalogues.

Bella Canvas 3001CVC: same pattern, blended fabric

The 3001CVC is cut from the same pattern as the 3001 at the same 4.2 oz, but in a 52/48 cotton-polyester blend. That makes it a heathered, slightly drapier shirt that shrinks less, while DTG prints come out a little more muted on the polyester. Only two suppliers we verify carry it, Teelaunch at $11.00 and Printify at $14.60, and sizes stop at 2XL.

The names are one suffix apart but they are different blanks, so check the fabric line on any listing before you swap. Our 3001 vs 3001CVC post covers when the blend is the better pick.

AS Colour 5001G and Stanley/Stella STTU169: the premium step up

Neither is an equivalent in weight. Both are 180 g/m² organic cotton, about 5.3 oz, so they feel noticeably more substantial than the 3001. Sellers pick them to position a brand above the Bella crowd rather than to replace it like for like.

  • AS Colour 5001G: boxier streetwear cut, GOTS organic cotton. Gooten prints it for $12.40, a $2.00 premium over its 3001; at Printful and Printify it costs $20.75 and $19.42. AS Colour 5001 vs Bella 3001.
  • Stanley/Stella STTU169: organic ring-spun cotton, a modern medium fit, sizes S–5XL. Printful prints it for $14.25 and Printify for $16.65. Stanley/Stella STTU169 vs Bella 3001.

Comfort Colors 1717: same buyer, different shirt

The 1717 is 6.1 oz garment-dyed cotton with a relaxed, boxy fit and a faded vintage look. It’s nothing like the 3001 to wear, but it sells to the same Etsy buyer, which is why sellers search for it as an alternative. CustomCat has it at $9.55, merchOne at $11.39 and Printify at $12.41. Read the Comfort Colors 1717 vs Bella 3001 comparison before swapping a slim-fit listing to a boxy shirt, since sizing complaints follow.

What about American Apparel 2001?

The American Apparel 2001 is the original fine-jersey fashion tee the 3001 was modelled on: about 4.3 oz combed cotton, slim cut, XS–3XL. It’s a genuine equivalent in feel. None of the suppliers we sync publishes a verified price for it, though, so we don’t quote one, and you’ll find it in far fewer POD catalogues. More in American Apparel 2001 vs Bella 3001.

Which equivalent should you pick?

  • Out of stock or swapping suppliers, customer shouldn’t notice: Next Level 3600, up to 3XL. Check the price at your supplier first.
  • Same look, lower cost: Gildan 64000, cheaper than the 3001 at every supplier in the table.
  • Heathered look, less shrink: Bella Canvas 3001CVC.
  • Moving upmarket: AS Colour 5001G or Stanley/Stella STTU169, accepting a heavier shirt.
  • Vintage or oversized look: Comfort Colors 1717.
  • You sell 4XL and 5XL: stay on the 3001. Of the equivalents only the STTU169 reaches 5XL.
